Customers and team members at CST Brands Inc.’s Corner Stores raised a record-breaking $2.4 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a charity that raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals across North America.
Donations from the October campaign will benefit 32 member hospitals in the communities where Corner Stores operate.
Corner Store employees invited customers to purchase $1 or $5 Miracle Balloon icons that included a coupon for savings on goods in the stores. In addition to the Miracle Balloons, customers could also purchase a “Glow for Kids” glow-in-the-dark bracelet for $1, or donate spare change.
“At Corner Store, we love to be part of our communities and can’t think of a better cause than helping children and families going through a challenging illness or injury. Our customers always open their hearts—and wallets—for the benefit of children,” said Kim Bowers, CEO of CST Brands.
The $2.4 million raised during Corner Store’s month-long campaign will help fund equipment, research, therapy and charitable care that saves and improves the lives of millions of kids treated at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals each year. Member hospitals provide critical care for children who need it the most, regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
“One in 10 kids in North America is treated by our member hospitals each year,” said John Lauck, president and CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “We appreciate the generous support of Corner Store employees and customers that helps these kids get the hope and healing they deserve.”
Corner Store has been a partner of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 1995, raising funds for children’s hospitals through multiple campaigns totaling more than $19 million.
