Sheetz Builds In West Virginia

Sheetz, which operates locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina, is constructing a new store in Fayetteville, W.Va., off U.S. 19, scheduled to open in late summer.

This expansion in the southern part of West Virginia comes after the convenience chain’s success in nearby counties as well as the northern part of the state, Monica Jones, Sheetz public relations manager told the Register Herald.

About a year ago, Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz added three stores in southern West Virginia. It also is building a location in Summersville, W.Va., which will also open in late summer.

“Stores have been very well received in the Huntington area,” Jones said. “It’s a great state for expansion.”

All stores offer made-to-order food with a menu including hot and cold deli sandwiches, salads, wraps, burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches and fajitas. Full-service espresso and smoothie bars offer an array of choices from hot, cold and frozen lattes to nine flavors of smoothies.

“We strive for excellent customer service,” Jones said. “We stay in tune with customers and seek out customer feedback. We make that one-stop shop as convenient and broad-based as we can.” With a recent push toward a healthier lifestyle, Sheetz is always seeking customer input on what they’d like to see at the locations, Jones added.

There are no immediate plans to expand beyond Fayetteville, Jones told the Register Herald. North Carolina has been the main focus on southern expansion of late, but thanks to the potential of southern West Virginia, more stores could be considered.
