BP’s ampm Offers Breakfast Samples

After launching its new breakfast menu at the start of this month, ampm invited customers to sample its new breakfast burritos, empanadas and croissant sandwiches today from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. at participating ampm stores across the U.S. while supplies lasted.

Participating stores offered half-size versions of items from the new menu and handed out coupons good for any hot breakfast item for $1.

“Once customers get a taste of our new hot breakfast items, we’re confident they’ll come back for more,” said Bill Fry, president of BP U.S. Convenience Retail.

The new menu offers commuters the following morning breakfast options:

   * Two breakfast burritos: The Works, filled with smoked ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns and three cheeses; and the Chorizo con Papas, filled with chorizo, eggs, potatoes and a three-cheese blend.

  * Two empanadas (stuffed pastries): one with sausage, egg and cheese, and the other with chorizo, egg and cheese.

  * Depending on the region, ampm will offer either two or three croissant sandwiches: one with sausage, egg and cheese, another with ham, egg and cheese, and – in certain areas – bacon, egg and pepper-jack cheese.

BP is also promoting the new breakfast menu with radio ads, e-mail blasts, text message alerts and store signage.

The ampm brand was founded in 1978 in Southern California by ARCO, which was acquired by BP in 2000. ARCO-branded ampm stores are currently found in California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Arizona; BP-branded ampm stores are located in Chicago, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Orlando, Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Atlanta.  There are also more than 1,800 ampm stores in Brazil and Japan.
