Seeing Blue

Kansas company looks to sell its car wash and convenience store chain.

Blue Beacon International, of Salina, Kan., is hunting for a buyer for its offshoot convenience store and car wash chain, Green Lantern Convenience Stores, the Salina Journal reported.

Blue Beacon owns and operates 100 truck and car wash locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as a hotel division, Lighthouse Properties.

Company President Trace Walker told the Journal that two Green Lantern stores and car washes and two freestanding car washes will be sold, as will a Petro 2 franchise store that includes a Pizza Hut Express and Wendy’s restaurant.

Walker told the Journal that the company will focus on its hotel and vehicle washing businesses to turn its profit, rather than its convenience store business.

“There’s nothing special about the timing. We just are not growing that part of our business,” Walker said.
