Chevron Corp., the second largest U.S. oil and gas company based in San Ramon, Calif., said today it plans to build a major gasoline production

unit at its refinery in Pascagoula, Mississippi.

The construction of the continuous catalyst regeneration project, estimated to cost around $500 million, is due to begin in early 2008 with completion anticipated by mid-2010, the company said in a statement.

Gasoline production at the refinery is expected to increase by about 10 percent, or 600,000 gallons per day, according to Reuters.
