One trusted data source improves efficiency and data accuracy from manufacturer to retail shelves.
1WorldSync, a global product data management and data pool solutions company, and Management Science Associates Inc. (MSA), a provider of data management, integration and analysis in the consumer goods industry have joined forces.
1WorldSync will power product data for MSA’s new Dataservices portal. For the first time, MSA can distribute manufacturers’ new-item information to its distributor community with a many-to-many model as opposed to the current one-to-one model. This single source of trusted data is more efficient, accurate and timely.
The challenge for consumer goods manufacturers and distributors is staying on top of and providing accurate product information—such as UPC, size, ingredients—all the way through the channel until the product is on retail shelves. “The partnership with 1WorldSync further strengthens our ability to provide manufacturers and their trading partners with consistent, correct and complete product information and to drive efficiencies in new-item authorization processes,” said Suzy Silliman, senior vice president and managing director of MSA’s Information Management Solutions Division.
“Inaccurate and poor quality product, company and brand data can negatively impact a business’ reputation. With a single trusted data source, MSA’s customers can be assured that they have access to the most accurate data,” said Tim Fives, director of partnerships and strategy for 1WorldSync. “We provide a seamless omni-channel experience from the manufacturer to store shelves, e-commerce sites and all the way down to a consumer’s mobile device.”
Silliman added, “1WorldSync has become the established leader in product data synchronization between trading partners by leveraging its GS1 ties to the GDSN (Global Data Synchronization Network) data. Many of the leading food, drug and mass merchandising channel retailers have benefited from related supply chain efficiencies for years, and MSA is eager to now extend these same benefits to the indirect retail channels, such as convenience, supplied by distributors.”
For more than two decades, MSA has continuously improved its processes and algorithms for cleansing and standardizing product master data reported to MSA by over 3,000 distributor warehouses.
MSA Dataservices is a searchable online destination where wholesalers can manage their store/item-level MSA data submissions for critical trade dollars and category management activities, track their promotional product-distribution goals, access the industry’s most robust shipments-data benchmarks and leverage MSA reporting solutions for competitive advantage. MSA Dataservices will be available to the market Q3 2013.
