Partnership with Central Retail Co. is expected to help grow the FamilyMart chain in Thailand to 3,000 locations in 10 years.
Japanese convenience store operator FamilyMart Co. plans to accelerate its store openings in Thailand through a new business partnership with Central Retail Corp., MarketWatch reported.
FamilyMart plans to sell its entire stake in SFM Holdings Co.—which holds FamilyMart’s area franchiser Siam FamilyMart Co.—to Central Retail for 7.8 billion yen ($97.8 million USD).
FamilyMart expects the deal to help double the number of convenience stores to 1,500 within five years and 3,000 in a decade, compared with 746 stores as of the end of August.
