Speedway helps a Tri-State-area children’s hospital through a million-dollar donation.
Speedway LLC pledged to raise $1 million throughout the next three years for the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The million dollars is expected to go toward the purchase of two new “Just For Kids” transport vehicles for the pediatric transport team at Kosair Children’s Hospital, and to support the development of the new dedicated pediatric emergency department at St. Matthews, which is the future Kosair Children’s Hospital.
Approximately $500,000 is being used to completely refurbish and remount two of the pediatric transport ambulances and the other $500,000 will be used to develop St. Matthews’ pediatric emergency department.
“The generosity of Speedway and its Louisville-area customers is nothing short of amazing,” said Lynnie Meyer, executive director of the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The fundraising effort comes from Speedway’s partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and the generous donations of its customers who place money in jars at Speedway stores throughout the Louisville, Ky., area. Charlie Runyon, region director for Speedway’s Tri-State Division, said Speedway has been happy to partner with people from across the Louisville community to help local children.
Speedway LLC is headquartered in Enon, Ohio, and operates 1,460 stores in seven Midwestern states. It’s the fourth largest company-owned c-store chain.
