Abe Abraham, chairman of S. Abraham & Sons Inc., celebrates his 100th birthday this summer.
S. Abraham & Sons Inc. (SAS) announced that its chairman, Abe Abraham, plans to celebrate his 100th birthday on Aug. 21.
SAS was started by Abe’s father, Sleyman, as a small retail candy and “five and dime” store in the Grand Rapids, Mich.-area. The store later developed into a wholesale company, selling to retailers in the city. Abe joined the business when he was 16-years-old and has supported it since then.
Abe and his family built their business on serving customers, and today, SAS distributes 12,000 items to 3,600 customers in nine states from two distribution centers. Customer-focus has been a priority at SAS, and has grown over the past 85 years at the company. Even though Abe is turning 100, his vision and wisdom continue to be a dominant part of SAS culture.
