Hershey’s Employs Veterans On Its Team

The Hershey’s Company is making stronger efforts to offer both benefits and jobs to U.S. veterans.

The Hershey Company launched a new Veteran’s Business Resource Group (BRG) to expand outreach to veterans and veteran organizations as jobs in the market are scarce, and unemployment rates heighten.

The veteran’s BRG plans to serve and support veterans within the company at Hershey’s and those who are still seeking work through initiatives including the following:

  • Educating employees on the skills and experience that veterans bring and sharing examples of Hershey’s support of the military
  • Reaching out to veteran’s groups to support the company’s veteran hiring mission
  • Offering support to veterans transitioning to the civilian workforce
  • Promoting communication and collaboration among veterans within the company.

The veteran’s BRG also plans to create mentorship programs for newly hired veterans and matching them with other veterans who have successfully transitioned to work at the Hershey Company.

The Hershey Company already started a Military Talent Program in late 2011. The program recruits veterans to support a growing business, host job fairs and related programs for veterans during the next several years.

“We have great opportunities for returning troops across our U.S. operations,” said Terry O’Day, senior vice president of global operations for the Hershey Company. “Veterans are known for their leadership, commitment and technical skills, an ideal combination for our manufacturing network.”

Currently, Hershey’s has more than 500 veterans working for the company. It wants to continue supporting U.S. troops both domestically and in overseas conflicts by sending troops care packages. 

The Hershey Company operates in Hershey, Pa., offering c-stores with more than 25 brand names.
