TETCO fundraises for the San Antonio youth in honor of Dan Cook in a recent golf tournament.
The 4th annual TETCO Dan Cook Memorial Classic golf tournament raised $90,000 for the San Antonio (SA) Youth on June 4 at La Cantera Resort.
The tournament raised almost $5,000 more than last year’s event. The event is hosted in honor of legendary sports columnist and SA Youth supporter, Dan Cook.
“One of the reasons we support SA Youth and the golf tournament is because of Dan Cook and his close friendship with my grandfather, Tom Turner senior,” said Jon Turner, TETCO vice chairman.
Turner said last year’s event raised nearly $85,000, and this year the company met its goal to exceed that number for the youth group.
Cook became interested in the SA Youth after realizing it was having financial difficulties. Cook toured the center, and wrote a column about it. Soon after, his readers donated $40,000 to the nonprofit organization, and over the years, Cook has raised thousands for the center.
“I was elated to see the amount of people who came out to support our organization and honor the memory of Dan Cook,” said Cynthia Le Monds, CEO of SA Youth.
SA Youth plans to continue to improve and expand services to inner-city and at-risk youth with funds from events such as the Dan Cook Memorial Classic.
TETCO is a San Antonio-based company, owned and operated by Tom Turner and his family. The company operates in Texas, Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Utah.
