PMAA calls for vigorous opposition to rest area commercialization amendment.
PMAA is urging retailers to contact their Congress members and fight the rest area commercialization amendment that could come up for a vote as early as tomorrow.
Representatives Steven LaTourette (R-OH), Steve Stivers (R-OH), and Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) have introduced an amendment to the Highway Reauthorization bill, which would allow states to commercialize interstate rest areas.
This amendment would turn the legislation into a jobs killer for small businesses because it would overturn a long standing law prohibiting commercialization of rest areas forcing small business petroleum marketers along interstates to compete with government rest areas in their advantageous location on the right-of-way.
PMAA asks that you call your member of Congress and urge them to oppose the LaTourette-Stivers-Kucinich Amendment No. 217. To send a letter via Capwiz, please go to PMAA’s Legislative Action Center or call the Capitol Hill switchboard at (202) 224-3121.
