Lucky customers in Connecticut and Vermont enjoy fuel savings.
Sheila Riley of Berlin, Conn. and Jim Hayssen of Bondville, Vt., have won free gas for a year thanks to Irving Oil.
Riley and Hayssen are two of six New England residents who will each receive $2,100 worth of Irving gas cards for participating in the Irving Rewards gas savings program.
The Hayssen family, including Jim’s wife Joan, could not be more excited about their prize. “We have four kids, three tuitions to pay, three cars and drive over 50,000 miles a year, so free gas for a year is huge for us,” said Joan Hayssen. “We are religious about using the Rewards card. The prices at Irving are great, the stations are always clean and the staff is incredibly friendly.”
Riley expressed a similar feeling, “I am thrilled to have won. I’m putting two kids through college, and do a lot of traveling to visit them,” she said. “The prices at Irving are always competitive, and they are one of the few places that don’t charge more for credit card purchases.”
Irving launched its Rewards program for customers on June 1. Irving Rewards allows consumers to save on gas at more than 300 participating Irving locations in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Every $200 in fuel purchases earns 10 cents off per gallon at the next fill-up. Customers can save at 18 participating Irving locations in Connecticut and 28 locations in Vermont.
Over 100,000 customers registered their Irving Rewards cards online since the program began in June. Nearly 61,000 customers entered to win free gas for a year or one of 100 Irving gift cards for $100.
Irving also deployed “Rewards Street Teams” throughout New England this summer, rewarding lucky customers at select locations with Irving tote bags that were randomly filled with gift cards ranging from $20 to $100. In total Irving distributed $6,000 in gift cards at these events.
“We are so pleased that Sheila and Jim have saved on gas through Irving Rewards and will save even more for an entire year,” said Harry Hadiaris, general manager of Irving Oil. “There is still time to save now that the program has been extended through December. We encourage families to continue to fuel up and save.”
Due to the success of Irving Rewards, the program was extended until Dec. 31, 2011. Customers can keep swiping their cards and saving on gas through the month of December. All rewards are redeemable by Jan. 31, 2012. For more information on Irving Rewards, visit theirving.com/rewards.
Irving Oil has nearly 900 service stations and travel plazas in New England and Eastern Canada.
