Atlas Oil has announced additions to its executive team.
Shawn Ryan, formerly director of the Atlas Oil’s DELTA Process Improvement team, has been promoted to vice president, operations. Ryan will also join the company’s senior leadership team. In addition, Atlas has hired Michael Loomis as director of sales operations.

Shawn Ryan
As head of operations, Ryan will oversee Atlas facilities and operations in Taylor, Mich., Niles, Mich., and Hammond, Ind., including fleet of transport and tankwagon trucks and all fuel deliveries made by Atlas drivers. In addition, he will be responsible for customer service operations, which are also available 24/7. He succeeds David Barnes, the company’s executive vice president and general counsel, who was acting as interim vice president since earlier this year.
Ryan came to Atlas in April 2010. Prior to joining Atlas, he was at Tefen Management Consulting as director of life sciences and supply chain. Before that, he was director of operations at AT Kearney MRO where he was responsible for indirect material delivery and distribution for 10 powertrain facilities in the U.S. He also worked for General Motors in warehouse operations and internal logistics prior to AT Kearney.
Ryan received a MBA in strategy and economics from Ellis NYIT and a bachelor’s in business administration from UW Madison. He is a member of the Michigan Lean Consortium and the American Society of Quality. He and his family reside in Northville, Mich.
Michael Loomis
Michael Loomis joins Atlas as director of sales operations, responsible for sales tracking and performance improvement and measurement programs. He reports to Bob Kenyon, executive vice president, sales and business development.
Loomis comes to Atlas from Sealy Inc., where he was director of sales for the Great Lakes east region. Loomis held increasingly responsible positions at Sealy since starting with the company in 1999 as territory manager for Nebraska and Texas. Prior to joining Sealy, Loomis was a regional marketing manager for Lexmark International in Lexington, Ky.
Loomis received his Bachelor of Science degree in political science/economics from Sam Houston State. He and his family reside in Grosse Pointe, Mich.
Atlas meets the fuel and service needs of businesses, municipalities and government agencies in 23 states. Atlas also supplies fuel to nearly 400 gasoline convenience stores throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
