7-Eleven Stores in Oklahoma Pledges $1 million To CHF

7-Eleven Stores in Oklahoma (which has no connection with the international company with the same name) presented Children’s Hospital Foundation (CHF) with a $1 million pledge that will help to transform the health of Oklahoma’s Children by funding pediatric research, clinical care and education.

The donation marks another significant donation toward the Oklahoma campaign for Children’s Health, a $30 million campaign created to meet the needs of Oklahoma’s ill children.

“We are excited to have 7-Eleven Stores as a new part of the CHF family,” said Kathy McCracken, CHF executive director. “The 7-Eleven donation will make large strides in improving the health of Oklahoma’s children. We are grateful for their dedication to the mission of the Foundation and for so generously supporting our life-saving work.”

The contribution is inspired by the company’s ongoing, deep desire to make high quality medical resources more available to children. All funds raised through CHF stay in Oklahoma so children have access to exceptional pediatric specialists without having to leave the state.

To honor the generous gift, the fifth floor in the state-of-the-art OU Children’s Physicians building, home to Children’s Hospital Foundation supported physicians, will bear the 7-Eleven name. Pediatric specialties such as Nephrology, Infectious Disease, Rheumatology, Genetics, Neonatology, Spina Bifida and Surgery call this floor their home.

Along with the monetary donation, 7-Eleven will also provide a grand piano for the Atrium, set to open in March 2011.

In 1953, 7-Eleven (Oklahoma) opened its first store in Oklahoma City. It now operates 109 stores in central Oklahoma. It continues as a locally-owned and operated company under the same family management. 7-Eleven in Oklahoma has no connection with the international firm with the same name.

The convenience store firm has been raising money for children’s causes for nearly 40 years and is excited about making a significant contribution to the Children’s Hospital Foundation at the OU Medical Center.
