The National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) is urging retailers to contact legislators one more time as the financial reform bill, which contains the swipe fee amendment, goes to a vote.
Last week, House and Senate financial services reform negotiators agreed to finalize the financial bill with the swipe fee reforms included. Now, both the House and the Senate must approve the final bill. Final votes are expected to occur, tomorrow, Tuesday, June 29 in the House of Representatives and Thursday, July 1 in the Senate.
Now, the credit card companies, big banks and credit unions are working to defeat the entire Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act because they oppose the swipe fee provisions.
NACS urges retailers to contact legislators and urge them to vote “Yes” on H.R. 4173, the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. NACS has prepared a new letter for you to send to your senators and representatives with just a few clicks.
Retailers can reach legislators by calling the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121. While logged in to the NACS site, select “My Info” and then “My Legislators” for additional contact information and their voting record on key NACS issues.
If you experience any problems with the NACS Grassroots site, please contact NACS Director of Political Affairs Myra Gravois Pitts at (703) 518-4290 or [email protected].
