Giant Food of Landover, Md., a grocery chain in the Mid-Atlantic region, and Shell have teamed up to provide customers savings on fuel.
Beginning on May 14, Giant and Shell customers in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore metropolitan areas, and select cities in Delaware and Virginia north of Fredericksburg will be able to shop at their neighborhood Giant stores and save on fuel at participating Shell stations by using their Giant card.
For every 100 Giant Gas Rewards points earned when shopping at Giant, customers can save 10 cents per gallon instantly on their next fuel purchase at more than 400 participating Shell stations, up to 35 gallons per purchase. Customers can save 10 cents, 20 cents, 30 cents or more per gallon at participating Shell stations. Points can also be redeemed at Giant gas stations.
“At Giant, we work hard to offer our customers the greatest value and help our shoppers stretch every dollar,” said Robin Michel, president of Giant Food of Landover, Md.
“Transportation costs are an important item in our customers’ budgets, and we’re thrilled to bring Giant shoppers another way to stretch their dollars. We are so pleased to join with Shell to make this great new savings opportunity possible for our customers.”
Customers earn one Gas Rewards point for every dollar spent at Giant stores with their Giant card. Gas Rewards points will automatically be added to a shopper’s Giant card and will be reflected on the shopper’s receipt and at the pump. In addition, customers can look online at the “My Giant” section at www.GiantFood.com to check how many Gas Rewards points they have earned.
Customers may redeem their points at Giant gas stations and participating Shell stations by swiping their participating Giant card, manually entering their card number, or by entering their alternate ID at the pump, which will instantly initiate the price drop.
“By teaming up, customers can earn savings on everyday purchases at Giant and redeem their Gas Rewards points for more savings at Shell stations on high-quality Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasolines,” said Dan Little, North America fuels marketing manager for Shell Oil Products U.S. “In today’s economic times, it’s more important than ever for companies like Shell and Giant to join forces to offer our customers optimum savings and rewards.”
