Save-A-Lot Grows Chain

Save-A-Lot food stores, a hard discount grocery chain, has opened its sixth store in Jacksonville, Fla., and it’s first store in Hinesville, Ga.

“Save-A-Lot is committed to building stores in neighborhoods that want convenience and access to fresh, nutritious food at a great low price,” said Bill Shaner the company president and CEO. He added the chain is proud to be a part of the Jacksonville and the Hinesville communities. “(We) look forward to serving budget-conscious, value-seeking families in the area,” he said.

The Jacksonville store is 16,000 square feet, packed full of shopping staples, including quality meats and fresh produce. Save-A-Lot is also making a $2,500 donation to Second Harvest North Florida to help with its mission to reduce hunger as part of its commitment to the Jacksonville community.

“This gift from Save-A-Lot comes at the perfect time as we continue to help Jacksonville struggling families during these tough economic times,” said Thomas Mantz, Second Harvest executive director. “We thank Save-A-Lot for their generosity and look forward to having a new community partner for area families.”

The opening of Save-A-Lot offers the Hinesville community affordable, easy access to food and brings 15 full-time and part-time jobs to the area-many of the store associates live in the local neighborhood. The new store is 14,000 square feet. Save-A-Lot also strives for environmental responsibility with efficient operations and productive use of resources.
