Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz Inc. said it has promoted 12-year employee Jim Wenner to the newly created position of vice president of information technology.
Wenner, who started with Sheetz in 1996 as manager of programming services, will now be responsible for providing strategic direction for the two primary functions of technology at Sheetz.
He will also provide support and maintenance for existing systems, the development of new systems and ensure that information technology resources meet the needs of the business.
“Jim brings a great deal of knowledge and ability to this new position,” said Joe Sheetz, executive vice president of finance. “Over the years he has been involved in the successful execution of many company-wide systems, including the startup of our distribution center. We are very fortunate to have him as the leader of our technology group.”
Wenner is a graduate of the University of Miami in Florida, where he received a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
In 1999, he was promoted to director of programming services at Sheetz, where he has been responsible for systems and application development. Since 2006, Wenner has played a key role as a member of the Sheetz Strategic Planning Team, responsible for the company’s long-term strategic planning.
