Cumberland Assists Food Drive

Canton, Mass.-based Cumberland Farms is partnering with the 4-H organization in that state for a food drive to benefit food pantries, the Boston Globe reported.

The food drive will run through Nov.15, allowing residents to drop off non-perishable food at any of the 190 Cumberland Farms stores in Massachusetts, the Globe reported. The 4-H members are aiming to collect 12,000 pounds of food.

Cumberland Farms said one in three Massachusetts children lives in a family that’s struggling to put food on the table, “a figure that is unfortunately only worsening in the current troubled economy.”

“Too many people in Massachusetts don’t have enough to eat," Cumberland Farms chairman and CEO Lily Bentas said in a statement. "We are pleased to partner with 4-H in this food drive, easing the burden of families in need."
