Jason Waltz of Spring Grove is proof that good things happen in threes, according to Rutter’s Farm Stores.
On Monday, Waltz celebrated his 33rd birthday, and just a day later ended up celebrating the win of three years worth of free gasoline, courtesy of Rutter’s Farm Stores.
Waltz was the second grand-prize winner in Rutter’s “Fuel Up Free!” gas giveaway. Rutter’s formally presented the prize to Waltz on Tuesday at its North Main Street store in Spring Grove.
Waltz is the owner of The Impressionist, which does interior and exterior painting in Hanover, York and Lancaster. He said he spends $60 to $70 each week on gas as he drives to job sites. At the same time, the down economy has cut into his revenue, according to Rutter’s.
Winning the free gas “was a big, big help for me,” the lifelong Rutter’s customer said. “I’ve been running on fumes for weeks.”
The gas giveaway began May 26 and runs through Aug. 24. Four customers will win free gas for three years, with the remaining grand-prize drawings scheduled for Aug. 4 and Sept. 15. The first winner was Kathy Wallick of North York.
Family-owned and third generation-managed, Manchester Township-based Rutter’s operates 52 convenience stores in York, Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and Lancaster counties.
